Ubiquitous Computing & The Disciplines of User Experience Design

image

The Venn diagram above was created by Dan Saffer and Thomas Gläser, and shows the relationships between the various disciplines of UX, or user experience design. This visual is of interest to us because it includes ubiquitous computing, which is a term used to describe technology like MindMeld that adapts to people rather than vice versa. It’s interesting to note that interaction design, industrial design, and architecture overlap to form the definition for ubiquitous computing. Do you agree with this placement? What other disciplines do you think deserve a different representation?
